So…as most of my friends know, about two weeks ago I gave a presentation to a number of non-profit agencies in Gainesville on behalf of James Moore and Company. I had to cover a ton of topics that would hopefully help these organizations make better use of their limited budgets and to not be ripped off by anyone. Luckily for me, the audience was 99% female…ha,ha!

After the speech, a very tall and very attractive woman stood up and started talking to the host of the event. I was approached by several people with questions so did not have the ability to extricate myself to do some proper stalking. As the story came out later, although I didn’t realize she was tall at first, she was quite determined to meet me as well…and came over and introduced herself as I was talking to several other people. We both exchanged “that” look and I knew I was going to do some research.

After a short amount of Facebook stalking, I discovered we had mutual business acquaintances and made some inquiries. Each of them started with, “She is incredibly sweet.” Several commented that knowing both of our personalities, that we would probably hit it off. So I sent her a message with the title “You have been officially Facebook Stalked.” Yes, subtlety is something I have been known to have issues with on occasion. So after a few messages we spoke on the phone and arranged a date the following week.

Dinner went well and we spent a couple of hours chatting and then decided to head to Starbucks to chat for a few hours more. I decided I really didn’t want to play it cool and invited her to be my date on Monday to a Labor Day Party…being the smooth criminal that I am, I did not kiss her and left her hanging…because that’s how I roll baby.

Well, Sunday came and I received a text so we ended up watching a movie Sunday evening…and then Monday came…along with the Labor Day Party of one of my clients, Edwin and Niya Dix…actually they are one of my VIP favorite friends/clients. The Dix party was fantastic, their beautiful home and property, all kinds of catered food, the pool, and a bounce house. My new companion actually knew more people than I did! We stayed for a couple hours and headed home…full and happy!

The next day, Niya called me, “Where did she come from?”. Niya talked my ear off for 30 minutes about how happy I looked, what a striking couple we made (that date is 6′ and athletic) and going on and on about all the comments people were making about who we were and where the girl I had brought came from. Surprisingly, this did lead to some interesting conversation about something I was struggling with…the age difference.

I’ve never really considered SERIOUSLY dating anyone more than 7 or 8 years younger than myself…and the new friend is 24. As the Regional Director of a National Charity, she certainly has a poise and composure beyond her years and having been a ballet dancer for 20 years, she is very graceful…the poise was something Niya commented on as well.

The point was, I initially did struggle with the age a little bit…Niya talked to me about the 13 year age difference between her and Edwin. I also spoke to my adopted Father who mentioned he and my adopted Mother were 8 years apart, and I spoke with a new client who has a 15 year age difference between he and his wife. The consensus was it is something that can work out very well if you have the right two people…especially when you take someone in their mid-twenties and mid-thirties. We shall see…it is a non-issue for me now but there certainly are a lot of jokes thrown around!

The rest of this week, we hung out a couple of times as I changed out a flat tire for her and then I got to be arm candy and meet some of her closest friends and business acquaintances at the ACEL Business Mixer in Gainesville on Thursday night.

At the moment, I’m just going with the flow…it is nice to have someone that you can curl up on a couch with and have a discussion about a topic that you may have opposing views over, but no one gets upset.

I’ve realized over the last six weeks that I’m being very blessed with great businesses success…and it makes me wonder if and how all of this works together. Am I experiencing business success because I’m happy and positive now and am attracting other positive and happy people into my life?I don’t know…all I do know is I’m happier personally and professionally than I have been in a very, very long time and I am excited to see where it all leads.

So the last few days have been nice. Business is good of course but I’ve really been enjoying hanging out with Brian and Kyle. It is hard to believe at times that 10 years ago I was their “Nanny” and now they are in their early 20′s. It has been nice to hang out, just talk about life, see what their dreams are, provide a different perspective and thoughts on events in their lives and just have a good time.

I’ve almost finally finished disassembling the red, 1988 RX7 I bought for $200 about 6 months ago. I’ve learned a lot about the suspension and transmission that I didn’t know before. I’m pulling the engine tomorrow and then scrapping the body. I should have plenty of parts to finally start the RX7 Parts website.

I had a very, very nice evening out on Friday and I have an awesome Labor Day Party to attend on Monday at a clients. It is going to be a great time! Hopefully I will catch up with my friend Stacey on Wednesday for some Dinner and hear about her trip to Maryland.
