UF vs Kentucky Tailgate ’06
Now for those who know me, there was a time that the mere thought of Kevin attending any event that involved social interaction outside of business was cause for the purchase of lottery tickets or a sure sign of imminent apocalypse.
I’m uncertain exactly why I’ve been more social over the last four or five months (mellowing in my old age perhaps) but I’ve become more and more at ease in public. This past weekend my friend, advisor, and occasional punching bag invited me, as usual, to his tailgate party. When I accepted, I thought Brian was going to fall over from shock and he replied, “I’ll believe it when I see it.”
Well, 3:30PM this past Saturday found me behind the Levin School of Law on the University of Florida campus, water bottle in hand, noshing, and socializing (well at least by my standards). I hung out for about 3 1/2 hours and Brian proved (as is par for the course) a very generous host and not only had many of his friends in attendance but welcomed many of mine: Crystal and her friend Sara, my sister Karen and her friend Laura, my friend/client/twin brother Andy and his friend Jim.
Brian loves to entertain and is good at it! From his lavish home parties to his tailgates, the man goes all out. Visitors to the tailgate were treated with the traditional: chips, veggies, burgers, chicken, and beer to the luxurious: champage, top shelf liquors, and lamb!
When game time arrived, I took my leave of the tailgate and took in the first half of the game at Casa de Huffman and finished it at Crystal’s.
I must admit it was a great weekend and if fight training doesn’t interfere, I’ll be back again for Alabama!
