Step 7: Sheregesh Day 2 And Goodbye

Posted on December 29 2007 by kevin

The second day in Sheregesh I chose not to partake in any more winter wonderland sports. Instead choosing to comfort myself in the warmth of the remaining cafe (the other having burnt down the night prior to our arrival), watching Russian music videos, and trying not to die from the cigarette smoke.

The trip back to Novosibirsk began around 4PM and due to adverse weather, we made it back to the hotel around 1AM. At this time we said goodbye to our new friends and headed upstairs to pack. After hastily throwing all my clothes back into my assorted bags and suitcases, I spent the next few hours chatting online with some friends.

The trip back featured no real surprises. Most of our flights had very short layovers so I was a bit worried that we might miss one. I got profiled in Frankfurt (probably for being Polish) and was briefly detained to check my laptop for bomb residue. I swear to God…they always pick on the big guys!

The flight from Frankfurt to Orlando sucked worse than usual as it was full of families going to Disney for vacation. I generally like children…a lot. Now when I’m 30,000 feet in the air, hating life, and having the little bastards running up and down the aisles. I did manage to continue my perfect record of not using a lavatory on an airplane flight which was no mean feat considering we were in the air for ten hours.

I’ve come to the conclusion that I could truly enjoy traveling but damn do I hate flying. Maybe next time I can take a boat! =)
