Of Irons and Shopping
If you know me, chances are you know that I like to shop…to the point of being gay pretty much. For business attire I prefer classic cut suits as one would expect to find on Savile Row in London. Quite frankly, a wonderful vacation for me would involve a trip to England with $20,000 or so to buy bespoke suits, shirts from Turnbull & Asser, and to purchase John Lobb shoes.
For more contemporary clothing, I have an undying affection for J. Crew…not necessarily due to some overwhelming desire to look preppy, although I enjoy the style. More out of loyalty for being one of the first clothiers to offer apparel in LONG sizes for a tall, athletic guy. I’m also a fan of Banana Republic, Charles Tyrwhitt Shirts, and Cole Haan shoes. Yes, the thought of purchasing clothes fills me with joy.
Due to recent weight loss and business success, I’ve had the opportunity to do a little shopping as of late…and God is it going to be great to have new clothes again! Which leads to the iron.
I’m a bit obsessive when it comes to ironing my clothes. Having a crease a mere 1/4″ off will lead me to redo the entire article of clothing. On average, it takes about thirty minutes for me to iron one shirt to satisfaction.
Tonight, being the wild and crazy person I am, I decided to purhase a new iron and ironing board…and was excited about it! Yes, I know…rather sad. However, in my defense, I’ll be looking damn good, that’s for certain!
