Cruise Day 4: Last Day

Posted on August 3 2009 by kevin

So the final day of the cruise, there were no ports of call. Just chugging across the Atlantic from the Bahamas back to Port Canaveral. This meant all activities were taking place on the ship. For Trish and I, this meant (well mostly for me) food and time spent poolside reading in the sun. I partook in a lovely mango/pineapple drink inside of an actual pineapple which was kind of sweet (I’m simple like that). While ordering said drink, some jackass lit a cigarette up right next to myself and the Bartender and the Bartender (Jamaican accent) was like, “No tolerance zone, mon!” The offender looked like a total redneck and was like, “Huh? I don’t understand?” at which point I interjected and said, “He means no smoking here!”. The apparent redneck walked away and the Bartender gave me a look and says, “Much respect Kevin.”

Trish and I also jumped into a game of “Name that Tune” which revolved around TV theme songs. I think I only managed 3 or 4 and Trish named the rest. Our final score was 15 but one group had 16 just edging us out. =(

The evening was uneventful. We had dinner in the main dining room and took in some amateur karaoke before the “adults only” comedy show. There were some brave souls who took the stage to sing. You ever notice that those singers who are REALLY bad but ham it up are actually good while those that suck but try and be serious…well…suck? Yea.

The adults comedy show was efinitely more raunchy than the show we had caught the previous night…which made it even funnier for me. After the show, we walked around the upper deck and sat for one last evening taking in the air, the sounds of the ship, the ocean and more. It was a nice way to end the trip as the boat was to dock in the morning.

I can say that taking the cruise was one of the best things I have ever done for myself. Three weeks later I’m still fairly relaxed and I’m hoping to take another cruise before the end of the year. This trip was so nice and I couldn’t have done it without Trish’s help and both of us being adults and deciding to go even though we had broken up. I know for me, it was a very nice shared memory and I like to think put us in a good place as friends to follow a tumultuous relationship that could have very easily ended poorly. I’m very thankful for that more than anything.

So…who’s up for a cruise in November maybe? Rush, are you still planning the Bahamas trip for next year?
