A Good Feeling
As I’ve struggled along with building a business from scratch over the last 3.5 years. One of the ugly truths is in order to avoid starvation or leaving bills unpaid, I’ve had to do work at times for cutthroat pricing.
I’ve recently mentioned how to a degree, I’ve “made it”. My little company would have to suffer a disaster of unbelievable magnitude for it to fail right now. So still possible, but not an every day worry!
Last week I spoke with a potential client in North Carolina about a site. They were requesting a significant amount of work and the quote I gave them was rather generous. They felt our offer was, “too much”.
I cannot describe the feeling of joy I had in telling this individual (in a nice way), that we obviously were not the right company for them and if they were looking for a charitable contribution they should check with the local High School for designers. Of course I pointed out that the quality of their site would suffer greatly.
It’s nice to start being paid what you deserve and I’ve find the “cheap” clients are the biggest “pain in the asses” while the clients willing to spend are the ones who realize you are the professional and should listen to you. I don’t try and tell my lawyers or accountants how to do their job, don’t tell me how to do mine.
Amen.
i hate dealing with poeple , fuck their needs. if they don’t like my repairs i can always park their truck/car on the tracks and wait till the choo-choo comes.
the polish shall rise again!!
